"I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for another amazing SCFG experience! I don't know if you guys can tell ([my daughter] plays her cards very close to her chest), but she LOVED Coding Club. Love, love, loved it. She didn't want it to end! And she sent me and her aunts a video of her website—she is over the moon delighted with herself. Thank you (to you and all of the mentors) for this amazing experience, from the bottom of our hearts!"

This enthusiastic feedback from a parent of one of our participants captures the impact of our 2025 Coding Club, which brought together 34 middle schoolers during February vacation for a week of hands-on learning in HTML and CSS. With 85% of participants from our target populations of underrepresented girls and gender-expansive youth, the program provided an inclusive space where participants built their own website vision boards, developed coding skills, and gained confidence in technology.
Beyond coding, participants connected with women in STEM during our Scientist Meet & Greet. They met a process engineer at Victoria’s Secret who develops data automation for PINK brand products, a Chief Technology Officer at a startup designing accessible devices to teach STEM concepts to blind individuals, and a mechanical engineering and physics student passionate about solar energy production. These professionals helped our young coders see that STEM careers are within their reach.
The Impact: By the Numbers
Our post-program survey showed:
100% of participants felt welcome and included at Science Club for Girls.
97% believe they are good at problem-solving.
93% say they like science, and 83% want a job using science and math.
97% demonstrated perseverance, adjusting their approach when things didn’t work on the first try.
Participants also significantly improved their coding knowledge:
Understanding of website development languages increased from 22% to 84% (+282%).
Confidence in explaining HTML rose from 15% to 96% (+540%).
Mastery of explaining CSS jumped from 11% to 100% (+809%).
Coding Club was more than just a week of programming—it was an experience that sparked curiosity, built confidence, and showed girls and gender-expansive youth that they belong in STEM!
